Herpes Is Highly Contageous Infection

estimated that at least one in four of the sexually active population is

You will know that a genital herpes outbreak has started when those small red bumps appear that evolve into vessicles, and the blisters evolve to become open lesions. The little red bumps normally will be situated at the site of the initial infection which could be on the genitals or around the lips. It is normal for the open sores to heal within a couple of days and to leave no scars. That first outbreak is normally the worst it will ever be as your body has not yet built any antibodies to fight the virus.
It is important to get tested for sexually transmitted diseases once a year because of the asymptomatic cases of herpes and other diseases. Get tested. It is possible that you are a carrier (and thus a spreader of genital herpes) of the herpes simplex virus without even being aware of it.
If you get tested you help prevent the spread of hiv-2, having safe sex will not protect you from genital herpes completely but it will dramatically lower your risk of becoming infected. If you do not know how to recognise it, remember that herpes look like a pimple in its initial stages.
